Toast is full photographs of the sort of “outfits” I’d like to have. The big difference between how I define “outfits” and how I define “clothes” is that clothes are individual garments, and outfits make you look like you know what you’re doing in life. Apparently, accessories are a key element in achieving that goal. Accessorization and applying make-up were two big lessons on being a female that I missed out on. This is my fault entirely. I’ve always hated hats, and jewelry is not a good idea when your work place is the studio.
But Toast, oh my, Toast! These beautifully droopy models manage to wear outfits without many accessories at all. The key seems to be one or two unique, but understated items. Big necklaces and scarves feature heavily in this.
And then, there are these:
Do you see them? Those little half- sleeves peeping out, making the model on the right’s 3/4 sleeve blouse winter friendly? Aren’t they amazing?
Apparently, A Friend to Knit With thinks so too. She’s come up with Toast and Toasty, two lovely patterns for Arm warmers. I, personally, am in love with the idea of trick sleeves: treating these arm warmers like the bottom halves of sweater sleeves. I will report back with the results. And some photos of an outfit. Sigh.

Outfits… I missed ALL the lessons on those for being a female. Accessories, make-up, what to wear with what, everything. I would get really confused by that catalogue, much as I’d like to learn how to put together Outfits.
What nice arm warmers though. I could use those easy ones without the thumb… looks WARM.

Hmm… I’ve never thought about the “clothes” vs “outfits” thing before. I guess it’s because I’ve always known how to dress and accessorise… not sure HOW I know though.
