I am trying to keep this month No-Heat-November. We haven’t turned the heat on yet, and I think we can keep it up at least in to December. Sure, temperatures are hitting below freezing, but that’s while we’re asleep. And I have inherited the Human-Space-Heater gene from my father, which I know will come in handy.
This is also coming in handy:
Pattern: Faberge Cowl (rav link) by Nina Machlin Dayton.
Yarn: Malabrigo Merino Worsted in a sort of cloud-grey/dark mauve color.
Notions: I used three small vials of mauve colored beads in size 6. I think I knit the cowl on size 6 needles, but I can’t really remember.
I finished this project back in the middle of October but never got around to blogging it. Or updating my Ravelry projects page. You’d think from the neglect this cowl has suffered that I don’t love it. But I really do- it is soft, pretty and slightly fancy. The only downside to the cowl is that when walking outside with any kind of breeze, the beads become freezing cold. This morning I tilted my chin down and thought that I’d covered my cowl in drops of frozen tea. Not so. Frozen beads yes, frozen tea, no.

I, too am trying to keep the heat off! Just pile on the clothing. We have had to 3 times now (turn the heat on) but it goes back off once the heat has become apparent. Knitting helps a lot with this…cowls, fingerless mittens and of course a half finished afghan while watching TV helps!
